UPDATED! Spike shows up in Africa where he puts his life on
the line to be returned to the demon he was before the chip. He
meets with a demon and confidently agrees to take on whatever
challenges the demon offers as long as he gets what he asked
for in the case that he wins. (I reworded this as a safety measure
after re-reading some of my material. Since the material I have
doesn't make it *perfectly* clear that Spike specifically wants the
chip out or that he'll get it out if he wins, I just want to make sure
I'm not misleading anyone on the basis of some non-specific
lines and unclear "all powerful" demon speak. It's possible that
Spike will be returned to his former demon without the chip
being removed... I can't say for sure. I doubt it, but better safe
than sorry.)

Re: Does Buffy leave Dawn with Clem?
Yes.
Re: Whether the whole gang rushes to the Magic Box after
viewing the video...
Not the whole gang. Just Xander and Buffy.

Re: Spike and whether someone tells him to go to Africa...
As far as I know, he's not told to go by anyone... but his departure
happens in 19, and I don't have full information on that episode.
He may have know about this demon for a long while and just
needed the motivation to finally go to it...I don't know. I don't think
it's elaborated on much.
Re: Whether Spike and Anya know they're being watched in 18...
They don't do it knowing they are being watched, but they find out
afterwards.
Re: Buffy's reaction to the video of Anya and Spike...
Both Buffy and Xander are upset by what they see because of
their former sig. others. Buffy's upset enough that Willow and
Dawn figure out that Buffy's had something going on with Spike
just by looking at her reaction to what she sees on the screen.

Re: Elaboration on Tara spoilers and Warren's actions...
Keyword in the spoilers: "accidental." He doesn't kill her
purposely and actually doesn't even find out about Tara until very
late in ep 20.

Re: What happens in 19 that makes Buffy not want Spike...
It's not a big deal. I'm not hinting at some big drama here...
Buffy's just physically injured prior to the encounter and it affects
her attitude. No drama. She's hurt badly enough that what he
does hurts her as well, but he doesn't give her the initial injury.

Do Spike and Anya actually go all the way?
Yes, but it's not a life-changing experience for either one of them.
Just one of those desperate moments that really accomplishes
nothing but getting both in trouble with their ex's.
Re: Buffy sending Dawn to Spike *after* the events of 19...
Buffy doesn't decide to send Dawn to Spike. It's entirely Dawn's
choice and Buffy's really not in a position to argue. Buffy *knows*
that despite what Spike did and could do to *her*, he could and
would never do that to Dawn. The relationship he has with Dawn
has never been anything but protective and he would die for her
as he's proven many times. Buffy, on the other hand, has always
been able to take his forcefulness and occasional violence, so
whatever forcefulness he uses in 19 is somewhat based on
previous experiences where Buffy doesn't mind that behavior so
much. It's not an attempt to hurt her, it's him acting like he used
to with her, but this time, she's not falling for him.
This of course, is addressed in 20 when Dawn announces that
she wants to go to Spike... it shouldn't be ignored. :)
Re: Spike going to Africa to get the chip out...
Spike wants to get the chip out to give Buffy a changed man. But I
don't know whether that's is to get the chip out and prove that he
can be good without it, or get the chip out and be bad. He's not
happy with who he's become with the chip, of course, but who
knows where things could lead. He may not even be able to get
the chip out for all I know.
Re: Buffy seeing the tape of Anya/Spike after or during the event
of A/S...
The gang see it as it's happening, which leads to more drama
later in the episode. And Spike having sex with Anya isn't exactly
the only reason for Buffy not wanting him. Aside from the whole
"not being involved with him anymore," there's more that's
unveiled later in 18 and some in 19 that ads to her reasons for
not being interested. The fact that she's very adamant about
them not being together anymore and not loving him should be
enough, but there are other possible reasons as well.
Further clarification about what leads Buffy to not want Spike...
Take one drunk Spike, add the opportunity to tell Buffy's friends
about him sleeping with her and what do you get? Two friends
finding out the truth. Really not something that hasn't been hinted
at for a while. And the other thing from 19 isn't even related to
Spike so nothing to freak over.
Even without those things, Buffy shouldn't need other reasons to
not want Spike at the moment. She's not backing down from her
position of not wanting to be with him. She doesn't love him and
it's not fair to her to be in a relationship with him if she doesn't
love him. I'm not sure how bad the scene will play out when it's
finally cut and edited and such, but if nothing else, it should
show the consequence of Buffy's repeated use of "No" and
"Please Don't" before just surrendering to Spike as she did
repeatedly in the past. For once, when she really means it, he
doesn't take her seriously.
Posted at Fan Forum: Spoilers...one time thing...
In 18... Buffy and Spike's "chat" is pretty cute. He holds a vamp by
his throat while she fights another they exchange a few lines.
The basic "How are ya" stuff, but still kinda cute exchange.
In 20...although Spike is gone, Buffy does miss him. According to
what I have, she does, at least. Misses his presence at the crypt
and asks Clem when he'll be back. Whether there's more than
that kinda depends on the director and Sarah during filming.

From halloo: But are the Scoobies ever going to find out about
Spike? I feel so incredibly horrible for poor William!
The cat's outta the bag in the next episode. Buffy tries to bond
with Dawn to ease her mind after last week's massacre attempt,
and in the process she spills the beans on Spike. (She already
sorta did in the last ep.) Meanwhile, Anya gets her
vengeance-groove on as she accepts the offer to become a
demon again. You get one guess as to who's going to be her
first target.
From chris345: Amber Benson was on Loveline [KROQ] saying
she just filmed a scene with Tara and Willow in bed naked. Is it a
sex scene, or do they just pan to the girls pre or post make-out?
It's pretty damn steamy from what I hear. Not Spuffy
through-the-floor steamy--but close.
From cooldave89: When will Giles be coming back?
Not any time before episode 20, unfortunately.
From chris345: Please have pity on us Buffy-philes; throw us a
crumb or two.
Big, bad stuff coming up at the beginning of May for sweeps.
Including a--drum roll please--Big Bad, which I'm really looking
forward to. We'll also see how truly e-ville Warren is, as two of
the Scoobies' lives are put in very grave danger.

The Buffy crew was on location tonight in Van Nuys, on Woodley
Avenue between Victory Boulevard and Burbank Boulevard. This
is a stretch of very wide road running over a mile through the
Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area. Lots of wide open spaces.
By about 8:15 this evening, Xita and I were standing on the
corner of Victory and Woodley, looking down the street as various
vehicles were driving around. There were two police officers
standing at the corner opposite from us and we weren't sure they
would let us through. Then this mom and her two daughters
crossed the street and walked right past the police without them
even blinking, so we figured it was okay for us to do the same.
Sitting across the entire road was a large 18-wheeler truck. Near
it was a car labelled "SUNNYDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT," set
up on this big tow-truck rig with all sorts of lights and cameras
on it. We stood there for quite a while, waiting to see what would
happen. Eventually, something did.
Vans came down from the base camp, and out popped Sarah
Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Danny Strong and Tom Lenk.
There was also this black-haired woman wearing black clothes
and black boots with thick heels on them. Was this Black Magic
Willow? We couldn't tell exactly because it was dark and we
weren't quite close enough - although later events made it
obvious that this was in fact Stunt Black Magic Willow.
A large ladder was put next to the cab of the 18-wheeler, and
someone (The Director? The Stunt Coordinator? I couldn't tell)
climbed up onto the roof of the cab. He gets down on all fours
and starts saying, "She's up here! She's run out of power, and
she's down like this." Stunt Black Magic Willow climbs up and
does the same thing. Meanwhile, the four cast members climb
into the police car.
So here's the scene. Apparently Black Magic Willow has decided
to go after Jonathan and Andrew, and she has magically
hijacked this 18-wheeler to do them in. Buffy and Xander have
somehow comandeered a police car with Jonathan and Andrew
in it, and they're on the run as Black Magic Willow chases them.
Then at some point, Black Magic Willow runs out of power and
the police car gets away.
They drove up and down the street several times, presumably
filming close-up dialogue scenes inside the police car during
various points of the chase. A couple of times the 18-wheeler
drove past us with Stunt Black Magic Willow standing up on the
roof of the cab. It was quite a sight, let me tell you. She even
glared down at us once. Also, just as an aside, at some point
they either have to shoot (or maybe they have already shot)
Alyson standing up there on the roof of cab being all evil and
vengeful. Obviously the truck wouldn't be moving with an
expensive star standing on top of it, but they could simulate
movement with big fans or something. Given how cold it was
tonight and the fact that Alyson would also have those black
contact lenses in her eyes, I'm guessing that's not going to be a
pleasant experience. Ah, the sacrifices Aly makes in the name of
art.
Join me in the Crypt of Decryption:
First, I have to take responsibility for an inaccurate spoiler. All
signs indicate that the spoiler I reported about Buffy selling the
house is wrong. I'm very sorry about that. It seems to have come
from a misinterpretation of a scene from Normal Again, but I am
not exactly sure.
Second, I do have some further clarification of a controversial
scene in episode 19 involving Spike. I did hear from someone
with access to a setside source who reports that the scene as
filmed does have overtones of rape and is "very intense."
There is really not a lot to analyze this week otherwise. AngelX
provides additional information; there is no need to question her
reliability and, indeed, the location shoot report confirms what
information she has provided about Willow going back to magic,
particularly dark magic, and taking revenge on those who were
responsible for Tara's death. The location shoot would seem to
be for scenes from episode 21, the penultimate episode of the
season.
To return to the issue of the controversial Spike/Buffy scene: I
think fans of Spike should be prepared to see him do something
that will horrify him and motivate him to make a change in his
life. What kind of change that will be is up in the air. AngelX's
information indicates that he will ask to return somehow to what
he was. The wording in the script is, I'm sure, deliberately vague
in order to increase the dramatic tension. Viewers are supposed
to wonder if he will be evil again as he was in Season 2.
